Create a board full of the wedding dresses you love it’s great fun and can really give you a feel for your wedding and your unique vibe. Once you have done this quite often a favourite designer keeps appearing, when this happens check which local boutique stock those beautiful wedding dresses.

Do check with your bridal boutique on lead times for their designer's collections as they can change regularly depending on demand. Once you have found those all-important designers check out their websites and social media accounts to look for gowns that press your buttons and have the details you love. Do remember not every boutique has every dress from every designer in stock. Double-check which collection the wedding dress is from and contact the appropriate stockist.

What is their shopping style? do they offer private appointments, closed-door policy, appointment charges, appointments charges for out of hours, chargeable cancellation policy? What size are the store's samples and ready to wear bridal gowns? We have never charged for appointments here are Willow Bridal and we do not charge for either weekend or evening bridal appointments as standard.

Once you have found the collections you love and the stockists here is our best advice for booking those all-important appointments but do consider:

  • Where is the boutique located?

  • Is it located close to your venue?

  • Are you going to have a wedding dress shopping into a weekend away in another city, once the lockdown is over? Do remember you may have to return to the boutique for your fittings especially if your visiting somewhere far away.

  • Do remember bridal boutiques like us get fully booked at weekends and quite often weeks ahead so do book your appointment as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

  • Try and book appointments during the week as stores are often quieter and have longer appointment times.

  • Read online reviews on multiple platforms so you can see what the bridal boutique is all about.

  • It all isn’t doom and gloom many stores like us are offering virtual styling appointments with you ahead of your bridal appointment in-store to discuss your wedding, style and every little detail to prepare you and us ahead of your appointment instore. Do check with your bridal boutique on lead times for their designer's collections as they can change regularly depending on demand.

  • Always research the price range of the boutiques you like the look of. Not forgetting to account for alterations and accessories you may wish to have or need.

  • Family and friend recommendations are great as they have had the first-hand experience of the boutiques in question.

  • Check if the bridal boutiques have an inhouse alterations team like us here at Willow Bridal. It's reassuring that they know the wedding dress you have purchased and how it can be altered to perfection. If they don't have an inhouse seamstress many can recommend one, however just because they recommend them does mean they are the best. So again, do your research and ask for advice on where to take your gown.
